17/03/2025Implementation of Philosophy and Educational Philosophy
In the Development of the Master of Science Program in Complementary & Alternative Medicine
1. Philosophy Integration
The program is grounded in the core philosophy of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) which promotes the application of science, technology, and innovation to create practical solutions that drive national development. Under this guiding principle, the program:
-
Fosters innovative thinking in integrative health sciences.
-
Encourages transdisciplinary approaches combining traditional wisdom with modern scientific methods.
-
Supports the use of evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) as a tool for national healthcare development.
2. Educational Philosophy Application
Aligned with RMUTT’s educational philosophy of “producing graduates with knowledge, morality, skills, and innovation,” the program emphasizes:
-
Learner-centered education, promoting autonomy and self-directed research in CAM.
-
Skill-based learning, especially in research methodologies, product development, and clinical applications of traditional medicine.
-
Moral and ethical responsibility, particularly in the use of natural resources, patient safety, and intellectual integrity in scientific innovation.
3. Curriculum Design and Improvement
To implement these philosophies into practice, the curriculum was created and continuously refined through the following strategies:
a. Outcome-based Curriculum Development
-
Clearly defined Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) that integrate knowledge of CAM with innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
-
Emphasis on research competency, enabling students to investigate and validate traditional practices using modern methodologies.
b. Innovation Integration
-
Courses include Herbal Product Innovation, Evidence-Based CAM, and Digital Tools in Health Sciences, encouraging students to create novel solutions.
-
Support for student-led projects, patents, and community-based innovations that respond to national health priorities.
c. Stakeholder Engagement
-
Collaborative input from academics, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to ensure relevance and sustainability.
-
Regular curriculum reviews using feedback from graduates, employers, and regulatory bodies, aligning with Thailand’s strategic goals in health innovation.
4. National Impact and SDGs Alignment
The program reflects Thailand’s “BCG Economy” model and contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
-
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
-
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
-
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
By bridging ancient wisdom with modern science, the Master of Science in Complementary & Alternative Medicine at RMUTT empowers graduates to become leaders in health innovation, aligning academic excellence with national development.
